Plot = At the core, the movie is based on the turbulence in weather caused by global warming, ozone depletion and other factors. The movie revolves around a blind old man, played by actor Sanjay Mishra, whose son Mukund, played by actor Bhupesh Singh, had take a loan in syndicate with a local co-operative bank and is not able to repay it since quite some time. The recovery agent of the bank, played by actor Ranvir Shorey harasses his son and all the other defaulters of his village, which also bounds some of them to commit suicide. Their village Mahua is facing lack of rainfall since past few years and hence the farmers are not able to cultivate crops and earn a living. On the contrary, Ranvir Shorey is aggressive in recovering loans for earning higher incentives, which will enable him to get settled with his wife and children in the same village. The movie then revolves around how the worlds of Ranveer and Sanjay collide and how they deal with the turbulence in their life caused by nature.

Opinion = The trailer of the movie was highly impressive. It is the need of the hour. The entire movie carries a sadistic approach towards life and death. Numerous issues like farmers suicide, weather turbulence, drought and flood conditions and suffering are voiced and presented in the movie with due diligence. The movie is a wake – up call for all of us. It sensitizes the audience with 2 extreme facets of climatic change (drought and flood) which can cause turbulence in our life, if we don’t take corrective measures.  The movie has received lot of appreciation in every festival it participated.

Performances = There is a pool of seasoned and outstanding actors in this movie.  Actor Sanjay Mishra carries the entire movie on his shoulders. It is one of his finest performances till date. Ranvir Shorey has also given a fine performance. But, since we have already seen him in similar roles multiple times, his presence has failed to create the desired impact. An actress like Tillotama Shome is completely wasted here. The supporting cast has performed at par with the expectation.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Nila Madhab Panda had director another movie with a similar plot named Kaun Kitney Paani Mein. It was a satirical comedy based on the same premise. Here, he has kept the entire treatment of the movie highly tensed and engaging. But, I feel that the screenplay of the movie could have been much better. The cinematography, production design and the background score of the film gives it a look of a parallel cinema. The song Main Banjar will touch your heart.

Justice League

Justice League

Review Rowdy -

Plot = The movie showcases how Bruce Wayne (Batman), played by actor Ben Affleck and Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), played by actress Gal Gadot build up a team of meta – humans (Justice League) comprising of Aquaman, played by actor Jason Momoa, The Flash, played by actor Ezra Miller, Cyborg, played by actor Ray Fisher and Superman, played by actor Henry Cavill,  to save the world from the threat posed by Steppenwolf, played by actor Ciaran Hinds, who is behind 3 mother boxes buried in different parts of United States, with an intention of finding and uniting those boxes which will give him complete control over the world. The movie is then based on how Justice League revolt against Steppenwolf and save the world from his catastrophic intentions.

Opinion = In general, such kinds of movies have similar storylines of showcasing the victory of good over evil. They are made to showcase the magic of technological advancements and the audience can only expect lengthy action sequences with a heavy use of VFX and CGI Technology. However, the movie keeps you engaged throughout, except in the last 20 minutes, where the narrative just falls flat and the movie becomes highly predictable. There was a very urgent need of subtle editing, which could have placed the movie on a superior pedestal. The fans of DC Comics will enjoy the movie, but unlike Wonder Woman, which had released early this year, the movie might not appeal to adults.

Performances = The movie entirely belongs to Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot. They both have got maximum space and screen – time in the movie and they have given an outstanding performance. However, all the other superheroes were just filling the void in the script. Actor Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf has given a fantabulous performance. He was the best choice for the character.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = I was delighted to see the name of Christopher Nolan as one of the executive producers, but however, the movie has failed to live up to the expectations. Writer – Director Zack Snyder has failed to penetrate the script deeper and has just touched this genre on the surface. There was a lot of potential in the plot which has been left unutilized. Technically, the film is extremely sound. The scene where Superman is brought to life and when Aquaman saves civilians from a sinking ship, are beautifully shot and will stay in your memory forever.

Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana

Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana

Review Rowdy -

Plot = The movie revolves around a couple Satyendra, played by actor Rajkummar Rao, and Aarti, played by actress Kriti Kharbanda, and their families. Their families setup an arrange marriage for this couple, with an exchange of a large amount of dowry, without the knowledge of the couple. Satyendra is a self- satisfied and simple boy whereas Aarti is highly ambitious and has been a topper throughout her academic career. Satyendra promises Aarti that he will let her pursue her career but his mother is of old school of thoughts and wishes her daughter-in-law to be a housewife. The problem arises on the day of their wedding, when Aarti gets to know that her prospective mother – in – law is highly rigid and would not let her pursue her dreams. With the support of her sister and maternal uncle, she flees away from the marriage facility. Her decision hurts Satyendra and his family deeply and he decides to take revenge from Aarti for causing defamation to his family in front of the society. Then the movie is based on how they make ends meet and lead to a happy ending.

Opinion = I am not able to fathom that why Bollywood Directors are not able to hold your attention for the complete runtime of round 2 hours or more. The first half of the movie is exceptionally well. It literally raises the bar of the movie and your expectations rise sky high. The conversations between the family members and the innocence and decency of the couple will tickle your funny bone. Also, a lot of tension gets build up while Satyendra’s Parents demand dowry from Aarti’s father and when Aarti elopes from their marriage facility. The performances of all the actors in these sequences are the Midas Touch for the overall movie. The movie becomes a revenge drama post interval, which is highly engaging and subtle. The main problem lies in the last 30 minutes of the film. Like in an airplane crash, when the plane is moving high in the sky, then suddenly turbulence is caused and it crashes on the ground, killing majority of its passengers. Here, the turbulence is caused in the last 30 minutes of the film and the script just nosedives on the ground, killing the audience. The climax of the film is a shit and will completely disappoint you with its utter stupidity.

Performances = I am again stating it that year 2017 completely belongs to actor Rajkummar Rao. This year he had 6 movie releases and all of his movies had received lots of praise and love from the critics and the audience alike. Here also, he is in complete form and has justified his existence in the movie. The flavor of the movie is actress Kriti Kharbanda. Majorly she has acted in tollywood movies and was last seen in Raaz Reboot. She has got a meaty role in this movie and she has utilized this opportunity optimally. The supporting cast includes Govind Namdev, Manoj Pahwa, Alka Amin, KK Raina, Vipin Sharma and others. All of them are established actors and have performed as expected.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Debutant Director Ratnaa Sinha is the spouse of Director Anubhav Sinha. As a first project, her direction is highly impressive. If she could have managed and edited the last 30 minutes of the movie wisely, the movie would not have become average. The songs of the movie are melodious and the cinematography is impressive.
