Review Rowdy -TweetPlot = Both the movies of Gangs Of Wasseypur Series, showcase the formation of Coal and Iron Mafia in Dhanbad which was in the state of Bihar and now is in Jharkhand. The series covers a time span from 1941 till 2012 and […]
Plot = The movie is based on PADMAVAT, an epic poem written in 1540 by a sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. The poem describes the incidences faced by the queen of Chittorgarh, Rani Padmavati, during her last days. The movie showcases how Alauddin Khilji, played by actor Ranveer Singh, the second and most powerful ruler of the Khilji Dynasty that ruled the Delhi Sultanate, gets obsessed with Padmavati, played by actress Deepika Padukone, and initiates a war against Chittorgarh, killing Padamavati’s husband Raja Ratan Singh, played by actor Shahid Kapoor, to satisfy his whims and fancies. At the end, Rani Padmavati initiates a JAUHAR (Sati Practice followed during 13th Century) and commits suicide along with all the other females of the kingdom, to protect themselves from being a sex slave to Alauddin Khilji.
Opinion = After a lot of allegations, havoc, bounties, vandalizing, etc. the movie has finally managed to get released in theatres. But, unfortunately, the craft of Sanjay Leela Bhansali is heavily compromised. Throughout the movie I felt that Mr. Bhansali was under heavy pressure and influence, for glorifying the Rajput Community of our country. The first half of the movie is only based on a lot of dialogue-baazi describing the aan-baan and shaan of Rajputs, which creates a lot of problem for you as an audience. The movie is very heavy and clichéd in the first half, which makes you impatient for the interval. But, it picks up a roller-coaster pace, post interval, where you get highly invested as an audience. The movie can only be watched for the historic performance of Ranveer Singh, the spectacular fight – sequences and the breath – taking climax sequence. The movie has nothing objectionable, like which was propagated till date. It must only be watched in the 3D Format, for having a mesmerizing experience.
Performances = A national-award is on the go for Ranveer Singh. Because of his mind – boggling performance, the character of Alauddin Khilji will always be counted in the league of Gabbar, Mogambo, Shaakaal, Ramadhir Singh and other antagonists of Bollywood. Ranveer has become as menacing as a human being can get. You will feel uncomfortable whenever he is there on screen. Unlike, Bajirao Mastani, this time Deepika Padukone has got full scope for sensitizing the audience with her acumen in acting. She shines with her performance, especially in the second half, and does complete justice to Rani Padmini’s character. The weakest link of the movie was Shahid Kapoor’s performance as Raja Ratan Singh. He was only present in the movie for showing his torso and mouthing pro-rajput dialogues, that’s it. Actor Jim Sarbh and Actress Aditi Rao Hyadari were decent in their performance. The supporting cast has performed as expected.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not satiated the urge of the audience of watching his full-blown craft. His vision is grand, but is marred by a weak script and languid screenplay. Apart from the aspects which I have mentioned in my opinion, there is nothing in the movie which differentiates it from the clutter. The songs are also just average and none of them is a chartbuster. As expected, the Production Design and Cinematography of the movie are top notch and elevates the presentation to a next level.

Review Rowdy -TweetPlot = The movie is based on John Pearson’s 1995 book titled “Painfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J. Paul Getty”, which revolves around the abduction of John Paul Getty III, played by actor Charlie Plummer, who is […]
Plot = A pianist Ayush, played by actor Karan Kundrra, gets shifted to York (New York City at the time of 1921) as a care taker of a manor, owned by Mr. Wadia, played by Director Vikram Bhatt and after a couple of months starts witnessing paranormal activities taking place in the manor. Ayush seeks help from Ms. Rose, played by actress Zarine Khan, who is capable of seeing and speaking with spirits. The movie gradually unfolds, showcasing the wrong deeds of the lead characters committed in the past and why it Is worsening their present situation.
Opinion = 1920 had released in the year 2008 and is still revered as one of the most sought – after horror flicks in Bollywood. The success of the movie motivated its makers to form a franchise with its successors like 1920: Evil Returns (2012) and 1920 London (2016), but both the movies were deplorable and a big debacle at the box office. Seeing the condition of its franchise, I had close to no expectations from this movie, but, the movie has impressed me with its decent and bearable content. The first half of the movie is breath – taking, slick and filled with some spine – chilling moments. The problem starts in the second half where the movie seems stretched and the proceedings seem predictable and repetitive. Still, the movie is backed by some logic and is not unbearable like its 2012 and 2016 predecessors.
Performances = Zarine Khan, Karan Kundrra, Aradhya Taing and the remaining cast are just average in their performance. Some of the scenes are utterly stupid and unintentionally funny. The cameo of Director Vikram Bhatt is deplorable and nothing to boast about.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Over the years, Vikram Bhatt is been counted among the most hopeless directors of Bollywood. But, his direction in the first half is commendable. Technically, the movie is extremely sound. The background score, cinematography and the production design are outstanding and give us a feel of a hollywood flick. I would like to thank Vikram Bhatt for giving us soulful and melodious music in every new movie produced by him. The songs in this movie are just outstanding and will go straight in your heart. The music makes the movie highly bearable and memorable.
