Plot = The movie revolves around the Kingdom of Wakanda, which is an isolated and secret tribe of South Africa. The King of the Kingdom is T’Challa a.k.a. Black Panther, played by actor Chadwick Boseman, whose kingship is challenged by his step brother Erik Killmonger, played by actor Michael B. Jordan and the movie then showcases how Black Panther regains his glory by defeating Killmonger and other opponents.

Opinion = I am not at a fan of Marvel Movies and I generally refrain myself from watching superhero movies. But this movie has surprised me in every way possible. The entire execution of the movie is just outstanding, backed by some nail-biting fight sequences and top notch special effects. The movie keeps you engrossed in the proceedings without the presence of a dull moment. The first half is slick and breath – taking, but the movie becomes highly predictable in the last 20 minutes of runtime. Watch it out for some great performances and fight sequences.

Performances = Both the lead actors Chadwick Boseman and Michael Killmonger have given an outstanding performance. There are some very good moments in the movie, picturized on them. The supporting cast comprises of actors like Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Andy Serkis (Klaw), Sterling K Brown (N’Jobu) Letitia Wright (Shuri) Atandwa Kani (T’Chaka) and others have given a fantabulous performance and were in sync with the script.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Ryan Coogler has handled a predictable plot with finesse. It is because of his direction and the grandeur of his presentation, that the movie keeps you wanting for more. Technically, the movie scores all the points.

Plot = The movie is based on Operation Geronimo, initiated for the assassination of the Al Qaeda Chief, Osama Bin Laden, where, Maya, played by actress Jessica Chastain, is an officer at CIA who investigates and traces the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden for 12 long years. Dan, played by actor Jason Clarke and Jessica, played by actress Jennifer Ehle, help Maya with all the support and tips required from CIA’s end, in completing the investigation. The movie then showcases how Osama is traced and eliminated by a special force at Abbottabad, in Pakistan.

Opinion = The movie is highly engaging right from the first frame. The proceedings keep you invested in the movie throughout; however, since Operation Geronimo was a covert operation of the CIA, the movie is made with a lot of restrictions, which is quite evident on screen. Many things in the first half are left for assumption to the audience, and many a times, the movie directly presents the outcome of the investigation and not the process. Still, the movie does not become heavy and will shock you at many places, with some spine – chilling moments.

Performances = Actress Jessica Chastain is the protagonist in the movie. She has carried the weight of the entire movie on her strong shoulders. She was very good in her performance. Actors like Jason Clarke , Jennifer Ehle and the supporting cast were just average in their performances.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Kathryn Bigelow had a very good hold over the proceedings of the movie. She has presented a very covert operation in a very simple and unambiguous manner. Technically the movie is extremely sound; especially the dialogues and the screenplay are very effective.

Plot = Set in 1950’s London, the movie is a work of fiction based on a renowned dress designer Reynolds Woodcock; played by actor Daniel Day-Lewis; who gets attracted towards a waitress Alma, played by actress Vicky Krieps; and marries her. Then the movie showcases their psychological turbulences and conflicts, leading to a tragic end.

Opinion = I have fallen in love with this movie. Post its completion; the movie deserved and received a standing ovation from the audience at the multiplex. The overall treatment of the movie is just outstanding. It’s a pure gem. As an audience, you just can’t get off the awe factor of this movie.  The climax sequence will shake you internally.

Performances = It is the last movie of actor Daniel Day – Lewis, before his voluntary retirement from movies. I must say that, he has given a nerve- chilling performance. The character of Reynolds Woodcock is passionate; fussy and meticulous about his work, about his craft, and Daniel has managed to live all the emotions of Woodcock with finesse. I wish we had actor Marlon Brando today and watching him playing the role of Reynolds Woodcock, would have been a lifetime experience. Even actress Vicky Krieps has given a fantabulous performance. The innocence, anger, frustration and lustful desires of Alma, is aptly portrayed by her. The remaining cast had nothing much to do in the film, but all of them have performed decently.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = The movie is sure to win maximum awards in the technical category this year, hands down. Director Paul Thomas Anderson has successfully transported the audience in the era of 1950’s, with elegance in his vision and execution. The background score of the movie has played a distinctive character, in elevating the impact of the proceedings. The production design team and the cinematographer deserve a ‘pat on the back’ for re-creating the era of the 50’s on the celluloid.
