Review Rowdy -

Plot = Software Engineer Avinash (Dulquer Salmaan) sets out on a journey, for claiming the dead body of his father (Akash Khurana), along with his friend Shaukat (Irrfan Khan) and Tanya  (Mithila Parkar), in the southern part of India. In their journey, all the three central characters discover the true meaning of their lives!

Opinion = The movie is extremely predictable right from the first frame. As an audience, at the back of your mind, you know how the movie will end. Still, you enjoy the proceedings. The movie is a laughter riot in the first half, with plethora of LOL Moments. The SHIT starts to happen in the second half, where the movie becomes a little boring and too preachy. Both the parts of the movie are polarizing. After just 10 minutes post interval, the movie starts to deviate from its core purpose of entertainment. You feel that “isse to achcha 90 minutes ki hi movie bana dete”. There is nothing productive which you can take away from the second half of the movie. It’s a complete let down. Even the humor becomes repetitive and starts to loose its fizz. Watch this movie only for the extremely entertaining first half and for Irrfan Khan !

Performances = Irrfan Khan is called the Tom Hanks of India, mainly because of his wise and diligent choice of movies. Here also, he is in complete form and he has continued his legacy of giving a top –notch performance. The Hyderabadi accent and nuances are expressed by him perfectly. He is the heart of this movie. Newbie Mithila Parkar has also given a very confident and memorable performance. She looked cute and sassy at the same time. She has shown some promise and potential in her acting skills. Actor Dulqeer Salmaan has also impressed me with his subtle performance. However, at some places he over – reacted to situations. Otherwise, he did a decent job. Actress Kriti Kharbanda, as Rumana (Avinash’s college friend), had given an impressive performance in her last movie SHAADI MEIN ZAROOR AANA. Here, her talent got wasted. The supporting cast was just okay in their respective performances!

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Akarsh Khurana really impressed me with his craft in the first half. But, if I analyze the second half of the movie, I would perceive Akarsh as a mediocre Director. With a powerful star cast at his disposal, he could have made the second half way better. But, I feel he himself was clueless about how to proceed with a uni – directional script. The everyday challenges and situations faced by middle class people and corporate professionals are presented brilliantly, with a tadka of humor. There are no songs in this movie!
