Review Rowdy -TweetPlot = Rizwan Ahmed (Rohan Mehra), is a typical small – town boy from Allahabad, who idolizes Shakun Kothari (Saif Ali Khan), a Mumbai based business tycoon, leading an empire worth rupees 5000 Crores. Rizwan comes to Mumbai for proving his mettle and […]
Plot = Nakul Kaushik (Ayushmann Khurrana) is in love with his colleague Rene Sharma (Sanya Malhotra). After convincing Rene’s mother Sangeeta Sharma (Sheeba Chaddha), Nakul decides to pitch their marriage proposal to his family, comprised of his father – Kaushik (Gajraj Rao), mother – Babli Kaushik (Nena Gupta), grandmother – (Surekha Sikri) and his younger brother. But, his life gets tobsy – turvy when he gets informed that his Mother is pregnant for the third time. Now, will Nakul plan an arrangement of his marriage, or will he prepare himself for welcoming his upcoming sibling?
Opinion = BADHAAI HO! BADHAAI HO! BADHAAI HO!, Bollywood ab apna content sudhaar raha hai, iss baat ke liye, poore desh ko BADHAAI HO!. The movie brings the spotlight on a very tricky question that, should there be an age – limit for having SEX? OR Do elderly couples lose their right of having some intimate and romantic moments with their spouse?
The movie shakes our thought process about this pertinent issue, in the most light and humorous way. People at the multiplex, including myself, have enjoyed the movie whole – heartedly. There are a plethora of LOL Moments, Toilet Humor, Sex Comedy and slice – of –life humor, at regular intervals.
As a concept, the movie has scored full marks. It will be equally enjoyed by the classes and the masses. It’s a complete package of entertainment. The first half of the movie, doesn’t even allow you to check your phones, it’s so engaging and entertaining. Post interval, however, for around 20 minutes, the movie lost its steam, but again, it got accelerated high, on the same track.
I appreciate the makers for choosing an out-of-the-box concept and for developing an entertaining plot, surrounding it.
There is no reason to miss this ENTERTAINER!!!
Performances = I was still under the influence of ANDHADHUN and Ayushmann Khurrana again surprised me with his fantabulous performance. However, his performance here, was very similar to the one of VICKY DONOR. He plays the role of a typical and frustrated DELHI KA LAUNDA, with finesse. Actress Sanya Malhotra also gave him equal support. There is a ensemble of highly respected and talented actors of the country, in this movie. We have Actress Surekha Seekri, Actress Neena Gupta and Actor Gajraj Rao (TALVAR fame) on board here and everyone of them has taken the screenplay to a much superior pedestal, with their outstanding performance. Especially, it was a treat to watch actress Neena Gupta on the big screen, after a really long time. The supporting cast was also very good in their effort.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = By releasing this movie on the auspicious occasion of DUSSHERA, Director Amit Ravindernath Sharma, has killed the RAAVAN of boredom and has given us a highly entertaining and interesting movie. His direction keeps you entertained and invested, throughout the runtime of the movie. A lot of effort might have been gone in strategizing the Screenplay, which is filled with humor. The hard work is quite evident on screen. There are only 2 or 3 songs, out of which, the title track is already a hit.
Rowdy Rating = 4 / 5
Review Rowdy -TweetPlot = It’s a remake of a hit Bengali – film, where an estranged couple Dev (Varun Mitra) and Aaisha (Rhea Chakraborty) meet on a train journey. The movie then oscillates between their past and their present, leading to a relieving climax! Opinion […]
Review Rowdy -TweetPlot = The movie tries to delve into the daily lives of single parents and their equation with their children, at various stages of life. Here, the protagonist is Eela Raiturkar (Kajol), a single mother and a businesswoman, who is nothing more than […]
Plot = The movie traces the life journey of a boy named Vinayak Rao (Sohum Shah), who gets fantasized by a local legend of a monster named Hastar and his gold medallions, in his village Tumbbad. Vinayak’s greed of getting those medallions increases with his age. Will he be able to unearth and capture the hidden treasure, or is there something different written in his fate?
Opinion = LAALACH BURI BALA HAI. The movie promulgates this simple ideology, in a complicated way. It has a fair share of highs and lows, but, unfortunately, the lows are little more. The movie fails to deliver its basic result, wiz ENTERTAINMENT. Because of the faulty execution, the plot became convoluted, unnecessarily. I was quite intrigued in the proceedings before interval. Post that, I believe, the makers themselves were clueless about what they are willing to project or showcase. After watching the climax, I immediately got a feeling that AGAR MOVIE KO AISE HI END KARNA THA, TO PEHLE KYUN NAHIN KIYA?
The movie would have been suitable (and bearable) as a “short film”. It’s really a daunting task to watch this movie for 2 long hours. The makers tried to make an Indian Version of THE MUMMY, but, failed miserably at their attempt. The plot was very linear, with a dearth of any major twist or turn.
I don’t understand that why popular publications have given a 4 Star Rating to this movie.
For me, it’s just and only, a one – time watch!
Performances = I believe actor Sohum Shah had not got the opportunity of having “sex”, for quite sometime now. I felt that he had chosen this movie (he is also a co – producer by the way), so that he can enjoy a couple of intimate scenes and can satisfy his urge of womanizing. Believe me, 70% of the time, he has done these things ONLY in the movie. I had appreciated his performance in TALVAR, but here, I didn’t saw the same flair, at all. Also, a linear script, restricted his scope of acting, anyways. The supporting cast was also just okay with their effort and performance. Actress Ronjini Chakraborty did look seductive on screen.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Considering that the project is backed by Producer Anand .L. Rai and after watching its trailer, I had decent expectations from the movie. But, majority of the things got ruined. Director Rahi Anil Barve, had a potent plot at his disposal, but, unfortunately, they could just make an average movie. The VFX, at places, was very good and at places, extremely pathetic. The Background Score matched the standard of a horror flick. The Production & Set Design was praise- worthy.
Rowdy Rating = 2.5 / 5
Review Rowdy -TweetNewly opened place in Malad West, near to Inorbit Mall. The best part of this places is its entrance. The place is divided into two places, one is like a restaurant and other is kind of lounge. The staff and the Manager (Mr. […]
Plot = A blind pianist Aakash (Ayushmann Khurrana) is the only witness of the murder of a yester – year actor (played by Anil Dhawan), at the actor’s own residence. He decides to lodge a police complaint and publicize the murder. But, how will he decode the incident, if he can’t see anything?
Opinion = The movie is a classic example of 2 halves being poles apart, in the same film. Right from the first frame, till interval, the movie is highly engaging and the build – up of the plot and its characters, is outstanding.
But, the second half drags heavily, and its length gets directly proportional with boredom. It has all the ingredients of a typical Sriram Raghavan movie (not considering AGENT VINOD here), but this time, the fizz of his direction was missing. The movie is a treat for connoisseurs of dark humor and edge-of-the-seat thriller. There are plethora of LOL and nail – biting moments, at regular intervals, in the first half. But, unfortunately, there is no key take – away moment, from the second half. I would consider it as just a one – time watch!
Performances = Ayushmann Khurrana is a revelation. If he is lucky enough, he might win decent number of awards this year, for his performance. The guy is just “bahumukhi – pratibha ka dhani”. The variations and shades in his character is expressed by him like an adroit. This is Ayushmann’s best performance till date. Actress Tabu (as Anil’s wife) has given a performance at par with the expectation. She looked seductive and deceptive, at the same time. Actor Manav Vij (as Tabu’s Boyfriend) showed potential in his acting. After a very long time, yester year actor Anil Dhawan appeared on screen, with a refreshing performance. A potent actor like Zakir Hussain (as Dr. Swami) was completely wasted here. The supporting cast did a decent job!
Direction = Director Sriram Raghavan is a master of thriller genre. The movie resembled a lot like JOHNNY GADDAR. He was successful in keeping me invested in the first half, but, the SHIT started to happen post interval. I don’t know why he unnecessarily convoluted a plot, which was at its peak, till interval. The Songs of the movie are below average (which is surprising as the protagonist is a pianist). The Background Score was successful in creating the right amount of tension.
Rowdy Rating = 3.5 / 5
