Plot = The movie is a culmination of events that led to the execution of a Surgical Strike at the “Pak Occupied Kashmir” on September 29, 2016.
Opinion = I had no expectations from this movie, as , after watching its trailer, I felt that it is just a propaganda movie, for clearing off the dust surrounding the surgical strike, for which our PM is still giving justifications on public forums.
Upto an extent, it justifies my perception.
The movie indeed glorifies the attack, which is quite normal at our LOCs (as proclaimed by the Army Chief , after this attack was given a political angle).
The entire first half is wasted in setting up the plot which, at places, will start testing your patience.
Also, the presence of unnecessary sub plots (deliberately included to evoke emotions) makes the screenplay even worse.
The movie started to engage me just before the interval and post that, it becomes a roller-coaster ride.
The actual attack is executed in the second half, which creates the required amount of tension and gives you the desired adrenaline rush.
Overall, the execution of this movie pays a tribute to our soldiers and martyrs, who do not get their due credit, for the sacrifices they make!
Performances = Year 2018 was extremely good for Vicky Kaushal. And now, with this movie, Vicky has established himself as a reliable actor. His performance has placed the screenplay at a superior pedestal.
Actress Yami Gautam and Actress Kriti Kulhari needs to figure out that why were they present in this movie.
Actress Swaroop Sampat was pretty decent in her performance.
Actor Paresh Rawal and Actor Rajit Kapoor did not looked convincing as Ajit Doval and PM Modi, respectively.
The supporting cast was just average in their performance.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Aditya Dhar is generally considered as an average filmmaker. Here also, the entire first half is quite sloggy and uninteresting. And, at many places I felt that he made a deliberate effort in infusing a certain kind of emotion and patriotism, within the audience. A better director would have done justice to the plot.
The background score and the action sequences are very good!
Rowdy Rating = 3 / 5
