Plot = A political journalist Ragini Phule (Shweta Prasad Basu) is in search of a political news scoop, for saving her job.

She receives a call from an unknown person, who asks her to delve deep into a decades old case, related to the death of Independent India’s 2nd Prime Minister – Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Will Ragini obey and submit herself to the commands of the unknown personality, or will the death of Mr. Shastri, still be left as an unsolved mystery?

Opinion = The movie caught my attention with its impressive trailer, released on YouTube. Then, while watching multiple slides of disclaimers presented at the beginning of the movie, I started feeling that, I am in for witnessing an intense and a researched content on screen.

Truly, content – wise, the movie did not disappoint at all.

But, Execution – wise, there are some flaws and ifs and buts, which can be ignored, considering the entire canvass of affairs.

The movie is highly engaging and is an intense drama, targeting the taste of the “class audience”.

It’s a modern and reprised version of EK RUKA HUA FAISLA or 12 ANGRY MEN.

If you have watched either of them, you will be able to relate many aspects of those movies, with this one.

However, though the proceedings and the plot setup are done on similar lines, it could not match up to the standards of ERHF.

The proceedings are intense and are highly engaging, but gradually, situations become melodramatic.

Especially, the entire monologue of Shweta Prasad Basu, in the climax sequence, could have been presented in a sophisticated and matured manner.

The makers were successful in conveying the intention behind making this movie, and have successfully cleared the eerie atmosphere surrounding Mr. Shastri’s death.

I am wondering that, till now, why have any other filmmaker NOT thought of making a feature film, on such a potent plot.

The movie has exposed the biggest “cover – up” in the history of our country, so don’t miss it!!!!

Performances = The movie has a great ensemble, with actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Pallavi Joshi (she is the producer also), Prakash Belawadi (TALVAR Fame), Mandira Bedi, Pankaj Tripathi, Rajesh Sharma, Mithun Chakraborty, Vinay Pathak and others.

Everybody has given praise – worthy performance.

However, the protagonist Shweta Prasad Basu, need to hone her acting skills a lot.

At times she appeared as a matured actress and at times, as a kindergarten play artist. Her performance lacked consistency.

The biggest weakness of the movie is the over dramatic performance given by Ankur Rathee, he has spoiled the entire narrative, with his below average performance.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Vivek Agnihotri tried his hand on a different and intriguing subject. But unfortunately, at the max, he is only capable of making an above average flick.

But I cannot blame him completely, as the audience in our country, in general, cannot digest a brutally honest account of a real life incident, on screen, in its true form.

So, the makers get bound to focus on peripherals, instead of submitting themselves completely to the core plot, for making the proceedings lighter and entertaining.

It is good that Vivek has used original clippings, audio recordings, media bytes and interviews, of Shastriji and his family members, which makes the narrative more believable.

The Background Score of the movie, has helped in making the proceedings gripping and intense.

Review Rowdy -

Plot = Ex- army soldier Kabir (Zaheer Iqbal) secures a job, as a teacher, at Wular Public School, at a secluded place in Kashmir.

After taking charge of his duty, Kabir finds a notebook, used as a personal diary, of an ex – teacher of the school, Ms. Firdaus (Pranutan Bahl) and falls in love with her, after reading some pages of the notebook.

Will Kabir be able to meet his love Firdaus ever, or is there something more written in the notebook, which meets the eye?

Opinion = I have fallen in love with this movie, madly.

It is one of those movies, which I will remember, cherish and revere, till my last breath.

This movie can very well be placed in the league of Aashiqui 2, Manjhi – The Mountain Man, PS I Love You, A Walk To Remember and the most recent one Kuch Bheege Alfaaz, considering its content and the overall treatment.

This flick promulgates the ideology that, love is not restricted to physical pleasures.

Love can happen anywhere, anytime and with anyone, with whom you are able to connect at an emotional level, whether that individual is accessible to you, or not.

For majority of its runtime, I had tears in my eyes. I was completely zapped by the proceedings at the emotional level.

Also, the beautiful locales of Kashmir, elevated the treatment of the movie, at a much superior pedestal.

You will have to surrender yourself to the narrative, for satiating your movie watching experience, optimally.

Be it the first half, or the second one, the entire movie remains high on the engagement quotient.

Also, various political and social issues faced by the local residents of KASHMIR, are been weaved in and are shown through the narrative, in the most impressive way.

Overall, I would like to thank actor Salman Khan, for producing this masterpiece !!!!!

Go for it and watch the true spirit of LOVE, in its purest form !!!!

Performances = The performance of the lead pair is praise – worthy.

Both the actors suited their characters, perfectly.

However, the appearance and look of Zaheer Iqbal is very much KASHMIRI. This has worked in favor for him, in this movie, but it might create hindrances and restrictions for him in getting other projects in Bollywood.

Also, Zaheer must try and showcase some starkly evident variations, while expressing different emotions. Otherwise, as a debutant, he has given a highly impressive performance.

Newbie Pranutan Bahl (Daughter of Mohnish Bahl and grand – daughter of actress Nutan), will steal your heart with her mind – boggling performance.

She looked confident, sweet, innocent and attractive on screen.

If luck favors her, Pranutan is bound to have a glorifying career in Bollywood.

Actor Mir Sarwar, in a brief appearance, left a lasting impact with his performance.

The performance of all the 7 kids shown in the movie, will steal your heart.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = I can fill up an entire notebook (pun intended), praising the Direction & Technical Aspects of this movie.

There is a sense of sincerity, purity and love for the craft, in Nitin Kakkar’s direction.

I felt that he himself was savoring the beauty of Love and of Kashmir, while shooting this movie.

Considering his last flick FILMISTAN and this one, I can gauge that he is a no nonsense director, who conveys his message through his craft, in a subtle way, without beating around the bush.

The Cinematography and the Camera Work undertaken, while shooting this classic, is breath – taking. It’s a beautiful ride of “Heaven On Earth”(Kashmir), through the lens of the cameraman.

Surprisingly, being a love story, there is only 1 song in the movie, Bumro Bumro, which is melodious and is shot beautifully.

Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota

Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota

Review Rowdy -

Plot = Surya (Abhimanyu Dasani) is suffering from a rarest –of- the – rare disease called Congenital Insensitivity to Pain, where he is in a position to feel any kind of emotion and motion, except PAIN.

The movie is then based on his histrionics as a self – proclaimed superhero, which encourages himself and his friend Supri (Radhika Madan), to commit a crime against Don Jimmy (Gulshan Deviah).

So, will Supri and Surya be able to get out of the clutches of Jimmy,

ya phir Jimmy iss MARD ko DARD pahunchaayega?

Opinion = It is good that Bollywood Filmmakers are entering new avenues of their thought process and are offering the audience, some refreshing and unconventional concepts, in the form of a feature film.

But, some of them have failed to understand that, not all concepts and ideas can be successfully turned into a 2 hours 15 minutes feature film.

I would be happy to watch this plot been made as a short film (not exceeding 45 minutes) and getting released on any video streaming website.

Movie bhi 45 minutes tak hi dekhne laayak hai. Remaining part is just GARBAGE.

The plot setting kicked off very well at the initial level, but the SHIT started to happen with the entry of Radhika Madan, in the narrative.

The movie is a classic example of a potent plot, getting ruined by a lethargic execution.

I was engaged and invested in the narrative for the initial hour of the movie,

uske baad screen par kya chal raha tha, ye naa to mujhe samajh aaya, and I am sure, Director ko bhi nahin samjha hoga.

Agar wo samajh gaya hota, to aisi galti nahin karta.

I felt that the makers were making a deliberate effort in making a memorable comedy.

If that was the only intention, then they have failed miserably on many parameters.

Post interval, I was least interested about what shit was happening on screen. The movie will bore the hell out of you.

The narrative definitely has a fair share of highs and lows, but, the engagement factor is missing at many places.

Overall, you can just watch it once for enjoying some laughs and for a unique concept, rest is just disappointing!!!

Performances = Surprisingly, the performance of the protagonist SURYA, itself is highly irritating and disappointing. A better actor would have done justice to the role.

Almost 80% of the time he is present on screen, Abhimanyu has maintained exactly same expressions, without any variation.

Actress Radhika Madan has repeated her performance of PATAAKA, though this time, she looks HOT on screen and has executed some very impressive fight sequences.

And as expected, the entire cake is been cut and eaten by Gulshan
Deviah
with his mind – boggling performance. Its high time that filmmakers start taking the talent of Gulshan, on a serious note.

Actor Mahesh Manjarekar, as Surya’s Grand Father, has also given a very impressive performance.

The supporting cast was just okay in their effort.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = There is no reason, considering which, the movie has been sent for competition, in the Toronto International Film Festival.

Aisi movies bhejte hain, isiliye Bollywood wale koi international award nahin jeet paate.

The direction of Vasant Bala was good at the initial phase (infact only in the initial phase) thereafter, I believe he himself was clueless about what he was trying to convey though this movie.

The Background Score and the Action Sequences are extremely impressive.
