Review Rowdy -TweetPlot =The central characters of the movie are Gopal, Madhav, Lucky, Laxman, Laxman, Khushi and Rukmini, played by actors Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade (Laxman 1), Kunal Khemu (Laxman 2), Parineeti Chopra and Tabu, respectively. They all are raised in […]
Plot = The movie is based at the time of emergency, when a politician, played by actor Priyanshu Chatterjee, orders army officials to take an age old treasure preserved by a queen, played by Ileana D’ Cruz, under their custody forcefully, because the queen refuses to sleep with him. The army follows the directives and arrests Ileana, taking the entire treasure in their custody. Ileana then meets her ex security in charge, played by Ajay Devgn, whose is serving his punishment for beating a policeman in the same jail. Ileana offers a lucrative deal to Ajay and requests him to bring back her treasure from the army. Meanwhile, army officer Vidyut Jamwal is handed over the mission to carry the treasure from Rajasthan to Delhi via highway in a fortified truck. Ajay then plans a heist involving his friend Emraan Hashmi, a local burglar Sanjay Tiwari and Ileana’s assistant, played by Esha Gupta, for robbing the truck. The team then fights with Vidyut Jamwal and police inspector Sharad Kelkar for completing their mission.
Opinion = It is nothing more than an average masala movie. The movie is extremely boring for the first 15 minutes but picks up pace once Ileana gets arrested. There are some witty moments and citi – bajao dialogues, but they have failed to create the desired impact. There is nothing in this film, that we have not seen in the past. The most irritating part is, the Director has given justification scenes directly for all the ambiguities faced by the audience while watching this movie. The movie will do good business in single screens and rural and semi – urban circuit but the multiplex audience might discard it.
Performances = The star of the movie is Vidyut Jamwal who is in top form and has given a very subtle and controlled performance. Ajay Devgn has repeated his previous performance of Kachche Dhaage, Major Saab and the likes. As an actor, Ajay is wasted in this movie. In every movie, Emraan Hashmi is playing the role of local goon who is desperate for women and sex. He has continued his trajectory here also. Ileana D Cruz looks beautiful as the queen, and that is all I can write about her. The comic relief of the movie is Sanjay Mishra who has also repeated the nuances of his previous performances but his performance been the ‘icing on the cake’. Actress Esha Gupta must leave bollywood if she cannot improve her expressions and dialogue delivery.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Milan Luthria has repeated his style of film making where major focus is been given to background music and dialoguebaazi, than on script. But, unfortunately, he has failed to create the impact of Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and The Dirty Picture. The script is very weak and wanders at places. The songs of the movie are melodious, especially Rashke Qamar and Piya More. Sunny Leone burns the screen with her presence in Piya More. The screenplay could have been water – tight. Dialogues by Rajat Arora are also average.
