Lust Stories

Review Rowdy -

Plot = It’s a compilation of 4 different stories showcasing the length to which, individuals can go, for quenching their sexual – urge.

 CHARACTER LINE UP: –

Story 1:- Kalindi (Radhika Apte) & Tejas Bhave (Akash Thosar) – Directed by Anurag Kashyap

Story 2: – Sudha (Bhumi Pednekar) & Ajit (Neil Bhoopalam) – Directed by Zoya Akhtar

Story 3: – Reena (Manisha Koirala); Sudhir (Jaideep Ahlawat) & Salman (Sanjay Kapoor) – Directed by Dibakar Banerjee

Story 4: – Megha (Kiara Advani); Paras (Vicky Kaushal) & Rekha (Neha Dhupia) – Directed by Karan Johar

Opinion = The movie is intriguing throughout. Considering that the stories are helmed by extremely reputed and trusted Directors, you expect to see a decent and refreshing content. However, I still feel that the movie “Lipstick Under My Burkha” (which had a similar premise) was much better and entertaining in its execution. The first story (Directed by Anurag Kashyap & Starring Radhika Apte) was highly disappointing. You take time to get sold to its premise, but again, the climax of the story leaves you in disdain. The second and the third story are the best of the lot. Overall, the movie is like a half-cooked khichadi, which gives you a very good breeze, but when you taste it, you feel the need of adding some more salt!

Performances = The movie clearly belongs to Actress Bhumi Pednekar; Actress Manisha Koirala; Actor Sanjay Kapoor and Actress Kiara Advani. All of them have given an outstanding performance. Especially, actress Bhumi Pednekar definitely deserves an award for her mind – boggling performance. She is establishing herself in the clan of Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Sridevi and the likes, with her every new outing. She has expressed a lot of things by remaining silent. It was a treat to watch Manisha Koirala & Sanjay Kapoor, giving a splendid performance, after a very long time. The sharpness of their talent is still intact. Actress Kiara Advani will start getting more offers from the fraternity, after the industry stalwarts see her performance in this movie. The pain of being sexually – unsatisfied, is clearly visible in her expressions, which testifies my above statement. Actor Vicky Kaushal is just repeating the same monotonous performance in every movie. If he does not choose his scripts wisely, we, as an audience, will not get to see him frequently on screen. Unfortunately, talented actors like Jaideep Ahlawat  & Radhika Apte are completely wasted here. I don’t understand why Radhika chose this script, as her character was single – dimensional and quite boring to watch. Actress Neha Dhupia was just present for showcasing her blouse – clad breasts. The supporting cast was decent in their performance.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = As a FAN, I expect a much better content from Director Anurag Kashyap. After NO SMOKING, he has disappointed me again. Director Zoya Akhtar has done a fantabulous job. Her direction doesn’t even allow you to blink your eyes. Her story was the most engaging one. I appreciate her “attention to details” and the way she has scripted the dialogues and the proceedings. Director Dibakar Banerjee also never disappoints. The suspense – factor in his story, will keep you hooked to your mobile – screen. Director Karan Johar’s story was like a comic – relief to the intense proceedings. His Direction will keep you entertained!

Review Rowdy -

Review = So, here is another sports–cum-revenge drama which seems highly predictable and unexciting. Again, Jimmy Shergill is playing a similar role which he had already reprised in numerous movies like Tanu Weds Manu, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Franchise, etc. The protagonist in the movie is actor Vineet Kumar Singh who had given a memorable performance as Danish Khan in Gangs Of Wasseypur. Here, the spotlight is on him, and he seems justifiable in the avatar of a boxer. Ravi Kishan is also part of the project and is again playing the role of an self – obsessed bihari guy. There is no hype surrounding this film, but since it is backed by Anurag Kashyap (as Producer and Director), we can expect a decent cinema on the lines of GOW. But again, the trailer is not at all exciting and gives us a feeling that the movie will be highly predictable. We will have to wait till January 12, 2018, for witnessing the final outcome.
