The House Next Door

The House Next Door

Review Rowdy -

Plot = The movie revolves around a recently married couple, played by Siddharth and Andrea Jeremiah, who reside on a hill station at an isolated farm house, far from the main city. They are invited by their recently shifted neighbors, Atul Kulkarni, his wife and his daughter Sarah (Khushi Hajare) at a house warming party, where they realize that not everything at Atul’s house is normal. The movie then unveils various facets of the plot, where Atul’s house is shown to be possessed by spirits and the lead actors try and dig out the history of the house, in search of the actual truth.

Opinion = I must admit that Bollywood has produced a genuine and very impressive horror flick after a very very long time. The last genuine horror flick before this was 1920, wgich literally sent shivers to its audience. Post that Raaz 3, Raaz Reboot, Haunted, 1920 Evil Returns, 1920 London, etc were all deplorable and unintentionally funny. The movie has some really impressive and spine – chilling moments. Especially, the entire exorcism sequence, shot just before the interval, will give you goose – bumps and nightmares even. Once you patronize this flick, it will be impossible for you to get this sequence out of your memory. The movie is strictly for adults and the people who are connoisseurs of horror movies, will love this flick.

Performances = Siddharth is an actor with great potential. He will mesmerize you with his performance in the climax sequence. Andrea looks stunning and voluptuous on screen. She has given equal support to Siddharth. The shining star of the movie is Khushi Hajare. She has swept the screen completely with her fantabulous performance. An actor like Atul Kulkarni is completely wasted here. The supporting cast has performed at par with the expectations associated with this genre.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Milind Rau has treated the audience with an impressive horror flick after a very long time. His direction is slick and highly logical. All the technicians associated with this movie deserve a pat on their backs. The background score, production design and the cinematography are just outstanding. However, there are only a couple of songs in the movie, which are forgettable.
