Review Rowdy -

Plot = The movie is based on the pre-independence period, where Manga, played by actor Kapil Sharma, aspires to be a police officer but repeatedly fails in the exams and physical tests, and hence, he is jobless. He manages to get a job with a British Officer as his personal guard and then eventually falls in love with Sargi, played by actress Ishika Dutta, who resides in his neighboring village. Sargi’s Grandfather, played by actor Anjan Srivastava, objects on their relationship as he follows gandhian principles and is not willing to have any connection with a British government servant. The movie then showcases how Manga manages to win the hearts of his villagers and Sargi’s Grandfather, with minor and predictable twists and turns in the plot.

Opinion = All Kapil Sharma fans will get highly upset and disheartened because the movie has minimal element of humor in it. There are a lot of tragic and painful experiences associated with the pre – independence period, which restricts the scope of adding humorous elements. At 2 hours and 40 minutes duration, the movie is a tiring experience. The first 20 minutes of the movie are extremely boring and cringe – worthy. It belongs to the league of feel good cinema which you can watch it with your family just for the sake of watching it.

Performances = Kapil Sharma has tried his level best to establish himself as an actor in this movie and he has achieved success up to an extent. His cuteness and sincerity woos the audience away. Actress Ishika Dutta expresses a lot through her facial expressions. She has got very less dialogues, but has managed to leave a lasting impression. Actress Monica Gill, as Shyamali, has given a very impressive performance. Also, actor Inaamulhaq has given a shining performance as Kapil’s best friend. Seasoned Actors like Kumud Mishra, Anjan Srivastava, Rajesh Sharma and Jameel Khan are completely wasted here.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Technically the movie is extremely sound. The Production Design and Cinematography of the movie successfully recreates the pre – independence era on screen. Director Rajiv Dhingra’s last film Love Punjab had received lots of praise and appreciation from the critics and the audience alike. However, there was a dire need of making the direction slick and tighter.

Review Rowdy -TweetReview = The trailer of the movie gives us a feeling that the movie will be highly predictable, preachy and an average state of affairs. In the trailer, Kapil Shrama looks strenuous in his approach in establishing himself as a mainstream actor. But, […]
