Review Rowdy -TweetPlot = The film is setup at a café, owned by actor Naseeruddin Shah, based on the interactions of 2 couples, Naseeruddin Shah and Sharnaz Patel, Naveen Kasturia and Shweta Prasad. Naveen and Shweta are on the verge of parting ways forever because […]
Plot = The film is based on a family comprising of Rajiv, played by actor Vaquar Sheikh, his wife Kavita, played by actress Sree Swara and the role of Rajiv’s Father is played by actor Bomie Dotiwala. Bomie is around 90 years old and is bed – ridden. Kavita is a housewife and Rajiv is an Insurance Agent. Rajiv remains constantly busy with his office work and client meetings and is unable to spend quality time with his wife Kavita. Since Bomie is bed – ridden because of paralysis, he is confined to a bedroom and is unable to do his daily chores. Right from feeding to cleaning his stools and giving him medicines, all the responsibilities are handled by Kavita, which doesn’t give her any free or personal space in life. This builds up frustration in Kavita and creates tension between Kavita and Rajiv’s relations. The film then reaches to a shocking climax.
Opinion = I must admit that it is the best neo-noir psychological thriller produced in recent times. As an audience, you yourself will get irritated by the constant banging of teaspoon done by Bomie for calling Kavita for completing his daily chores. This film will be best enjoyed if you directly watch it. Divulging more information about the film will ruin its charm.
Performances = The performances of all the lead actors is pretty decent. The plot and the presentation of the film steals the limelight here.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Abhan Bharucha Deohans has handled the subject with finesse. His direction is highly convincing and will give you Goosebumps at the end. Technically the film is extremely sound. The production design and the cinematography of the film transports it to a superior pedestal.

Plot = The opening shot of the film showcases Actor Pedro Monteiro at a marketplace, where he enters a shop and expresses his interest in buying a Jigsaw Puzzle to its owner, played by actor Daragh O’ Malley. Daragh mentions that he had sold this puzzle multiple times to different customers but for some strange reason the puzzle returns back to his shop. He warns him to not buy this puzzle and look for some other goods in his shop but Pedro offers a large some of money to Daragh and forcefully takes the puzzle from the shop. The film then showcases how the puzzle keeps on returning to the shop owner in a horrifying way.
Opinion = It is the best horror film produced in recent times. Of course, we cannot compare a 9 minute short film with Conjuring series, but yes, the film is a welcome treat to the most mocked genre of film making. About 6 minutes into the film, the suspense becomes predictable, but the way the climax has been shot, gives you Goosebumps. The story is very simple, but the technical aspect of this film differentiates it from the clutter.
Performances = The performance given by both the lead actors, Pedro Monteiro and Daragh O’ Malley, are at par with the genre. Especially, Daragh has created a very deep impact through his facial expressions.
Direction & Other Technical Aspects = The film is written, produced and directed by Basil and Rashad Al-Safar. Rashad is also the editor and sound designer for the project. The direction and background score of the film is very good and gives the audience a haunting experience. The cinematography and the production design is also at par with the requirement of this genre.
