Plot = Murad Ali Mohammad (Rishi Kapoor) gets convicted with his brother Bilal (Manoj Pahwa), in a blast case at Allahabad, where Bilal’s son Shahid (Prateik Babbar) is one of the suspects involved in executing the blast. Murad’s daughter – in – law, Advocate Aarti (Tapsee Pannu), takes charge of finding the truth and acquit her family members from the case. Will Aarti be able to get justice for her family members, or will she lose everything in the process?

Opinion = The movie is inversely proportional to KARWAAN, which I reviewed yesterday. In the latter, the first half was way more entertaining than the second one, whereas, here, its vice versa. The first half of the movie is filled with clichéd dialouguebaazi and over-the-top acting of the central characters. The movie moves in a languid pace and literally tests your patience after a while. But, the second half places the movie on a superior pedestal. The movie picks up pace post interval and becomes a highly engaging and entertaining affair. Still, the movie becomes very heavy and cumbersome at places. My verdict = Just a one – time watch!

Performances = Actor Rishi Kapoor has given yet another riveting performance. He is highly fortunate that, at this age, he is getting the most potent and powerful roles, any actor would vouch for. If we consider his recent movies like AGNEEPATH; D DAY; DO DOONI CHAAR, etc, Rishi Sir has shown immense potential with his acting acumen. Tapsee Pannu has shined in her performance, but in parts. She still needs to work a lot on her dialogue – delivery. Also, her lip moments and facial expressions seemed out of sync at many places. Unlike DHADAK, the script made optimum utilization of Ashutosh Rana, as Advocate Santosh, and as expected, he gave an outstanding performance. Actor Manoj Pahwa gave a very impressive performance. Actor Kumud Mishra, as the Judge, gave an outstanding performance. I liked the way he concluded the case in the movie. A potent actor like Rajat Kapoor is completely wasted here. Actor Prateik Babbar left a lasting impression with his brief performance. Actress Neena Gupta, as Rishi Sir’s Wife, had nothing productive at her disposal. The supporting cast did what was expected from them!

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = Director Anubhav Sinha has returned in the stream after a very long gap. His direction looked old –fashioned and out of sync at many places. The first half is really discouraging and could have been shortened to a great extent. In the second half also, he could not refrain himself from a filmy and clichéd climax. The background score is almost absent from the movie. Thenge Se song is melodious!
