Plot = The movie is an official biopic of Arjun Award winning hockey player Mr. Sandeep Singh, which mainly focuses on his love – life and his struggle in fighting his physical paralysis.

Opinion = So, this is another biopic just 2 weeks after SANJU. But, I assure you that, today, moviegoers will be highly surprised after watching it. There is not much of a hype surrounding this movie and it is also not backed by any big – ticket star cast. Still, the movie is exceptionally good. It takes a little time in establishing each character for the starting 20 minutes of the runtime, but post that, the movie becomes an engaging and entertaining affair. Though, Hockey has become the essence of the plot here, still, the movie is very different from CHAK DE INDIA. It has the innate honesty in its execution. The plotting and execution of various events related to the life of Mr. Sandeep Singh are done skillfully. I was happy to see that, without giving much GYAAN or BHAASHANBAAZI on the financial condition of Hockey Players and the Federation at large, the movie is a complete masala entertainer. There is no reason of missing this movie over the weekend.

Performances = Take out Diljit Dosanjh from the movie and the screenplay will fall flat. Diljit has given a “performance of a lifetime”. Considering his previous Bollywood Movies (Welcome to New York, Phillauri & Udta Punjab), I was skeptical about his acting capabilities. But now, I can say that he is definitely a talent to watch out for. The blood and sweat he invested in the movie, is very evident on screen. Another surprise package of the movie was the performance of Angad Bedi, as Diljit’s Brother. He did a very decent job. Actor – Director Satish Kaushik is playing the role of Diljit’s Father, and I must say that Satishji is a highly under – rated actor. Previously, he had given a fantabulous performance in Sudhir Mishra directed Calcutta Mail. Also, he was extremely impressive in Nagesh Kukunoor directed Lakshmi. Here also, he has given a memorable performance. Satishji will make you weep, with his acting. Actress Tapsee Pannu has given yet another impressive performance. She looked very convincing as an athlete. It is highly unfortunate that we don’t get to see a potent actor like Vijay Raaz, quite often on the big screen. All the witty one –liners are been mouthed by him, in his signature style. Everyone in the supporting cast, have kept their best foot forward, with their performance.

Direction & Other Technical Aspects = After directing pathetic movies like OK JAANU (2017) and KILL DIL (2014), Director Shaad Ali has impressed me (and the audience at large) this time. He is also one of the writers for this movie. His direction is engaging for most of the part. His research on the subject and the sport at large, is also detailed. Apart from the title song, no other song was impactful. In fact, the song KABHI USE NOOR NOOR acts as a hindrance to the proceedings. Technically, the film is good.
